Goal:   A more efficient, fully electronic Work Order Management solution to improved planning and assignment of work orders.
  

Impact achieved:

eThekwini Electricity previously utilised a legacy mobile application which suffered from several deficiencies including:

• Old technology with no support & maintenance in place, putting the city and its operations at risk

• Lack of enforcement of data validation meaning that significant time is required to verify and correct the data

• Time consuming management of the data and the devices.

In a period of 3 months Boxfusion implemented a new Work Order Management solution, consisting of a web-based portal and fieldworker mobile app. This solution is replacing eThekwini ’s legacy system and paper-based processes.

Results include:

• Fully electronic work order management processes covering core processes: Creation of work orders on the web-based portal, assignment of inspections to electricians on the mobile app, and the verification of work submitted by the fieldworkers.

• Higher levels of quality and consistency in the data captured by the fieldworkers because of data field validation.

• Improved planning and assignment of work orders

• Integration with relevant third-party systems to streamline operations

• Appointments scheduled through the web portal have improved the management of no-access visits.

• Seamless data synchronisation from the devices to eliminate currently time-consuming steps
